A Hilo round opens with one card dealt face up and a multiplier of 1.00x. You call whether the next card is higher or lower, and every correct call compounds the stake by that step's factor. The round ends the moment you cash out — or on the first wrong call, when the stake is lost. There is no push, no partial refund and no second chance on a tie.
| Visible card | Cards above | Cards below | Equal cards | Higher call win rate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 36 | 12 | 3 | 70.6% |
| 8 | 24 | 24 | 3 | 47.1% |
| 10 | 16 | 32 | 3 | 31.4% |
| K | 4 | 44 | 3 | 7.8% |
The call loses. In a fresh 51-card pool, three cards share the visible rank, so 5.9% of guesses end the round in either direction.
Yes. Every call is independent: you may go higher on one card and lower on the next. Only the cash-out decision freezes the current multiplier.
Each step factor comes from the probability of the call you just made. When 36 of the 51 unseen cards sit above the visible rank, the fair higher-call factor is 51 / 36, and the game applies its edge on that single number rather than on the whole session. Factors compound, so two 1.50x steps pay 2.25x and three pay 3.38x — the payout curve rises faster than the streak grows.
| Steps completed | Factor per step | Cumulative multiplier | Chance of reaching it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1.50x | 1.50x | 67% |
| 3 | 1.50x | 3.38x | 30% |
| 5 | 1.50x | 7.59x | 13.5% |
| 8 | 1.50x | 25.63x | 4.0% |
Live. It is recalculated from the remaining deck state and the direction you choose, which is why a lower call on a king pays less than a higher call on a 5.
No. The unseen pool stays 51 cards per round, so each call keeps its own probability; only the cumulative multiplier grows.
Risk level does not change the cards, it changes the factor schedule the round pays against. Low risk trades step size for hit frequency, medium sits close to the raw card probability, and high risk widens the spread between steps while shrinking how often a call lands. Pick the level from the numbers below, not from the multiplier on the screen.
| Risk level | Typical step factor | Hit frequency | Bankroll behaviour |
|---|---|---|---|
| Low | 1.10x–1.25x | around 85% | Long sessions, small swings; a 20-step streak still returns modest multiples |
| Medium | 1.30x–1.60x | 65–70% | Five to eight steps usually reach a meaningful multiple; 15–25 unit swings per session |
| High | 1.90x–2.50x | 40–50% | Short bursts; three consecutive misses can remove 30–40% of a session bankroll |
Set the cash-out factor before the first card, not after a streak. Hilo's multiplier is fixed by the cards you have already cleared, so the real decision is which multiplier you accept as a finished round. A target fixed in advance at 2x, 2.5x or 3x holds better than a number invented after four correct calls, when the next card's higher multiplier looks free.
| Target factor | Cards needed at typical odds | Bust risk | Stake sizing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5x | 2-3 correct calls | Low | Frequent small wins on a flat stake |
| 2.5x | 4-5 correct calls | Medium | Default target for a session |
| 5x | 7-8 correct calls | High | Half your normal stake |
| 10x+ | 10+ correct calls | Very high | Lottery ticket, not a plan |
Every Hilo round is derived from three published inputs: the server seed hash displayed before you bet, the client seed you set or accept, and the nonce that increases with every wager. The card sequence is the output of hashing those three values, so identical inputs always produce the identical shuffle. Because the plain server seed stays hidden until you rotate it, the pre-round hash is what stops the sequence being changed after your bet lands. Once revealed, the round can be recomputed by anyone.
| Input | Where to find it | When it becomes public |
|---|---|---|
| Server seed hash | Round panel before the bet | Immediately |
| Plain server seed | Fairness panel after rotation | After you rotate |
| Client seed | Fairness panel and bet history | Editable at any time |
| Nonce | Bet history row for that round | Immediately |
| Round hash | Bet history and verifier output | Immediately |
Wagering contribution depends on the bonus you claimed, not on Hilo itself. A deposit bonus typically counts Hilo at 20% toward turnover, so a 100 EUR bonus with a 30x requirement needs 3,000 EUR of Hilo turnover rather than 500 EUR. The rate is printed in the same block as the bonus terms, beside the expiry and the eligible-games list. Demo mode runs the same deck and multiplier table on play credits, so a target factor can be tested before real money is involved.
Yes, at the rate printed in your bonus block, usually 20% for deposit bonuses. Check the eligible-games list first, because sportsbook and casino offers use different rates.
Yes. Demo Hilo uses the identical card derivation and multiplier table with play credits. Demo rounds carry no cash value and do not count towards any wagering requirement.
The minimum is set per coin and listed in the payments table; the maximum while a bonus is active is capped by the bonus terms, typically a fixed amount per round.
The cash-out button, current multiplier and next-card bust risk sit in one row above the deck, so no scrolling is needed mid-round. Session limits are set in the same account tools as desktop.
